Every event in our North-west car community is important to us so it is with a big pleasure we would like to congratulate Vauxhall who celebrates 50 years of production in the local factory at Ellesmere Port in Cheshire.

It was June 1st 1964 when the first Vauxhall Viva HA model came out of the production line at Ellesmere Port. This model was produced till 1978 only to be replaced by Vauxhall Chevette. From 1981 on production of the first-generation Vauxhall Astras began at the site which went on to become one of the best-selling car models of all time. Currently the Ellesmere Port factory produces more than 70,000 Vauxhall Astras per year making this model second most popular car in the whole country.

The Ellesmere Port production site had managed to overcome several motor industry downturns over the years and most recently it faced a closure. Luckily for the North-west automotive industry the factory managed to endure those difficulties. To our greatest delight Ellesmere Port will be continuing the great work that started 50 years ago with the next generation Vauxhall Astra production from autumn 2015. We can’t wait to see the new generation of Astras and we are confident that it will be performing as well as the current and previous models.
